Roulez vert dropped from $4,000 (2025) to $2,000 for 2026 and ends December 31, 2026. Confirm the specific trim’s eligibility — for example, the 2026 Model 3 Premium RWD qualified for the $2,000 amount. A new EV registration fee applies from 2027.

Québec and British Columbia are opposite cases — and they call for opposite behaviour

Set this page beside our British Columbia one and the contrast is instructive, because the two provinces fail a buyer in opposite directions. Québec has a dated cliff: the provincial rebate ends on a known day, so waiting has a price you can calculate. British Columbia has an undated pause: its passenger rebate stopped taking applications with no reopening date published, so waiting there buys nothing and costs nothing.

That distinction is worth more than either provincial figure, because it generalises. A scheme with an end date makes delay expensive and quantifiable. A scheme that is paused makes delay pointless rather than costly — and a reopened scheme is under no obligation to return with its old amounts. So the question to ask about any provincial programme is not how much it pays, but which of those two shapes it has.

Both provincial carve-outs land on the referrer, not the buyer

Worth stating plainly because it is easy to misread the Québec quirk above as a reduced benefit. It isn’t. Across the two provinces where Canada departs from the national picture, both departures sit on the owner’s side of the transaction:

• Québec: the demo-drive credit an owner can earn is unavailable. The buyer’s three-month FSD (Supervised) trial is untouched.
• British Columbia: the referrer reward is unavailable entirely. Again, the buyer benefit applies normally.

So the buyer benefit is genuinely uniform across Canada, and the owner side is not. Two practical consequences: a buyer never needs to know where the code’s owner lives, and an owner in either province should share a code because it helps the buyer rather than because it pays them.

Three separate clocks run out at the same time in Québec

This is the part worth planning around, and it is specific to Québec: three unrelated changes all land on the same turn of the calendar, and together they move far more money than any referral reward.

1. Roulez vert ends December 31, 2026. Not reduced — eliminated. It was already halved from $4,000 to $2,000 at the start of 2026, so a Québec buyer in 2026 is looking at the last and smallest version of a program that was twice as generous a year earlier.
2. The federal amount steps down in the new year. EVAP is built to taper. A delivery that slips past December takes the provincial rebate with it and lands on a smaller federal one.
3. A new EV registration fee begins in 2027. A recurring annual cost rather than a one-off, which means it keeps counting long after the rebates are gone.

Stack those three against the referral benefit and the hierarchy is unambiguous. The referral is a three-month software trial that is identical in every province and every month. The Québec calendar is worth thousands and only turns once. If you are choosing between ordering now and waiting, the referral should not appear anywhere in that calculation — and the crucial detail is that eligibility generally follows the delivery, not the order, so a December order with a January delivery may not help.
