The July 2026 US Model Y Price Ladder — and Why It Isn't Canada's Number

$41,630 all-in for the entry Model Y in the US, with a non-refundable order fee built in. None of it is a Canadian price — here's what still holds regardless of trim.

The US floor, as of late July 2026

As of July 26, 2026, the entry Model Y Standard in the United States is $41,630 all-in: a $39,990 base price plus $1,390 destination and a $250 order fee. That order fee is explicitly non-refundable — it's part of the real entry price a buyer commits to, not a refundable deposit that comes back if they walk away.

Above it, Model Y Premium starts at $45,990, and the three-row Model Y L sits at $61,990 — a roughly $20,000 spread across the Model Y line in one market. The Standard RWD itself is a single rear-motor configuration, EPA-rated at 321 miles.

Why this is a US ladder, not a Canadian one

Every figure above is in US dollars, from US-facing reporting on the US lineup. Canadian Model Y pricing, destination charges and order-fee structure are set separately on tesla.com/en_ca and are not a currency conversion of these numbers — don't price a Canadian order off a US price ladder found in search results, however recent it is. What stays the same regardless of which trim, or which country's price list

The Canadian referral program doesn't scale with trim or price. Whether a Model Y order lands at the Standard end of the ladder or up near the Premium or Model Y L pricing, the buyer's benefit is the same 3-month free FSD (Supervised) trial, and the referrer's Tesla Credits hold at up to C$325, or C$650 if FSD is added. A pricier configuration in the US ladder above doesn't imply a bigger Canadian referral payout — it's a flat reward tied to the referral event, not the invoice total.

Why conversion fails — four reasons, not one

It is worth being concrete about why, because 'convert it and add a bit' feels reasonable and is the mistake we see most often. Four separate things break it, and they compound rather than cancel out.

• The two lists are independent documents. Tesla publishes a Canadian price list and a US one, and each is revised on its own schedule. A converted number is therefore stale in two directions at once: the US figure may have moved since it was reported, and the Canadian figure may have moved for reasons that never touched the US at all.
• Destination and order fees are set per market, not scaled. They are their own line items with their own amounts, so they do not track an exchange rate and cannot be inferred from the US version of the same line.
• Trim availability differs. A configuration sitting in the middle of a US ladder may not be orderable in Canada at the time you look, in which case there is no Canadian row to convert — the gap is not a price difference, it is an absence.
• Sales tax is added at purchase and varies by province. One Canadian list price produces different out-the-door totals depending on where the car is registered, so even a perfectly converted list price would not tell a buyer in one province what a buyer in another pays.

The useful habit that follows: compare the Canadian list against its own earlier versions, not against the US list. Movement in the Canadian column is a fact about your order. Movement in the US column is context, and occasionally a hint about direction — never a number you can spend.

What to check before you order in Canada

• Get your actual Canadian price, in CAD, from tesla.com/en_ca — not from a US price-ladder article.
• Check whether Tesla's order fee in Canada is refundable or not at the time you configure — fee terms can differ by market and have changed before.
• Open your referral link or code before you start configuring — it applies the same regardless of which trim you land on.
