How to Stack Your Tesla Referral With Canada's 2026 EV Incentives

Two systems, one order: the referral affects your FSD trial and Tesla Credits; the rebate affects your final price. Here's how they interact.

Two separate systems — do not confuse them

The Tesla referral (a free 3-month FSD Supervised trial for the buyer, plus Tesla Credits for the referrer) has nothing to do with government EV-purchase incentives. One comes from Tesla; the other from a government program. A buyer can, in principle, receive both — but each has to be checked on its own terms.

The federal layer: EVAP

The Electric Vehicle Affordability Program (EVAP) is the federal incentive that replaced the closed iZEV program: up to $5,000 via a final-transaction-value cap, running April 1, 2026 to March 31, 2031, funding permitting, with purchases eligible from February 16, 2026. Whether a given Tesla trim clears EVAP’s price cap needs confirming at order time — this is completely independent of whether a referral code was used.

Québec: Roulez vert stacks on top

Québec’s Roulez vert program adds up to $2,000 for a new eligible EV in 2026 (down from $4,000 in 2025), and the program ends December 31, 2026, with a new EV registration fee beginning in 2027. Roulez vert and the referral are independent: a Québec buyer can receive the free FSD trial and the Roulez vert rebate on the same order, subject to the vehicle trim’s Roulez vert eligibility.

British Columbia: CleanBC, but no referrer reward

BC’s CleanBC Go Electric rebate is income-tested, and its amount and Tesla-trim eligibility change — confirm the current terms before ordering. What does not change: BC residents referring someone else earn no Tesla Credits at all, for demo drives or completed purchases. The buyer’s FSD trial is unaffected by that exclusion.

Ontario and most other provinces: EVAP is the only rebate in play

Ontario currently has no provincial EV purchase rebate that we have verified. For buyers there — and in most provinces outside Québec and BC — the federal EVAP is the government incentive worth checking, stacked against the referral’s FSD trial and full referrer rewards, which apply without exclusion.

A quick stacking calculation

Take a hypothetical Québec buyer ordering an eligible Model 3 in 2026. On the government side: up to $2,000 from Roulez vert, plus — if the trim clears EVAP’s transaction-value cap — up to $5,000 federally, for a combined government incentive potential of up to $7,000, subject to each program’s own eligibility rules. Separately, and unaffected by either government program, the referral gives the buyer a free 3-month FSD (Supervised) trial, and the referrer (outside the Québec C$20 demo-drive exclusion) earns up to C$325 in Tesla Credits, or C$650 if FSD is purchased outright. Four line items, four separate sources — never one bundled number.

The one mistake to avoid

Do not assume a rebate disqualifies a referral, or the other way around — verify each independently against its own primary source, and do not treat any total as guaranteed until your specific trim and province are confirmed at order time.
