What a Tesla Referral Code Is Actually Worth in Canada, by Model

Not every eligible model gets the same value out of the same referral. Here's the honest breakdown.

The buyer benefit is identical across three models — the value to you isn't

Model 3, Model Y and Cybertruck all carry the exact same referral benefit: three months of free FSD (Supervised), applied automatically after delivery. But "identical benefit" is not the same as "identical value." What that trial is actually worth to you depends entirely on whether you were already going to try FSD (Supervised) — not on which of the three eligible models you ordered.

If you were never going to touch FSD (Supervised)

Then the trial's practical value to you is low, whatever the model. It's a real perk, but one you likely won't use. This is worth saying plainly rather than pretending every referral is worth the same amount to every buyer — a directory-style page that quotes one flat dollar figure for every order is smoothing over this exact distinction.

If you were already planning to add FSD (Supervised)

Then the trial effectively buys you three months before you'd need to decide whether to keep it — genuine value, again identical across Model 3, Model Y and Cybertruck. The model you choose doesn't change the calculation; your own FSD intentions do.

Model S and Model X: zero, not "less"

Since March 2026, Model S and Model X carry no referral benefit at all — not a smaller one, none. If you're cross-shopping an S or X against a 3 or Y, that's a real difference to weigh, separate from the cars' other differences.

The referrer side: also model-agnostic

A completed vehicle referral earns the referrer up to C$325 in Tesla Credits, rising to C$650 if the buyer also adds FSD (Supervised) as a purchase. That figure doesn't change based on whether the buyer chose a Model 3, Model Y or Cybertruck — it changes based on whether FSD gets purchased, full stop. A Cybertruck referral is not worth more to the referrer than a Model 3 referral; the sticker price of the car referred is irrelevant to this specific reward.

The provincial multiplier changes the total, not the referral

A Québec buyer stacks the referral with Roulez vert (up to $2,000, ending Dec 31, 2026, subject to trim eligibility). An Ontario or Rest-of-Canada buyer stacks it with the federal EVAP (up to $5,000, funding permitting, purchases eligible from Feb 16, 2026). A BC buyer gets the identical FSD trial as anyone else — but if that buyer refers someone else in turn, they personally earn nothing as a referrer, regardless of model. None of these provincial facts change what the referral itself pays out; they change what else is stacked next to it.

Referrer cap: the honest caveat

Referrer rewards are capped — commonly cited at 10 referrals per calendar year — but we're not going to state that as gospel here. Re-verify the current cap on Tesla Support Canada before you plan around it; program caps are exactly the kind of detail that moves without much notice.

Bottom line

The referral's dollar-for-dollar value doesn't run on a per-model scale — it runs on whether you'd use FSD (buyer side) and whether FSD gets purchased (referrer side), with your province deciding what else stacks alongside it. Model choice matters for the car; it doesn't move this specific number.
