In March 2026, weeks after the Refer and Earn terms were revised on 24 February, Model S and Model X were removed from the referral programme. For a Canadian buyer the eligible list is now Model 3, Model Y and specific Cybertruck trims.
Why this is the most expensive fact on the page
Because a valid referral applied to an ineligible car pays nobody and gives the buyer nothing, and nothing in the ordering flow warns either party. It is the largest wasted-referral scenario in the programme, and it is invisible until the order summary shows no benefit line.
The trim detail worth carrying
Cybertruck eligibility is trim-specific — Premium AWD and Cyberbeast qualify, Dual Motor AWD does not. That establishes Tesla will exclude a trim inside an eligible family, which is why no newly launched variant should be assumed eligible on family grounds.
Who the removal actually hurt in Canada

What did not change
The mechanics: attach through the link before the order is placed, one referral per transaction, credits to the referrer under a ten-per-calendar-year cap, twelve-month expiry from the Grant Date. Those survived the February revision intact.
The provincial layer, unchanged too
British Columbia's referrer reward is unavailable and Québec's demo-drive credit is not offered — both affect the sharing side rather than the buyer's benefit, and neither was altered by the March removal.
Why so many pages still list S and X
Because referral content is rewritten from other referral content, and a page accurate in 2025 reads exactly as confidently now. The models still exist and the programme still exists, so nothing signals the change — which is the argument for dating claims rather than pages.
What to do if you were planning an S or X order
Buy the car if it is the right car, and stop looking for a referral on it. A three-month software trial is a small consideration against a vehicle in that price bracket, and no code exists that restores eligibility — anyone offering one is describing a pre-March 2026 world. If the third row was the requirement rather than the badge, the Model Y family is where the referral benefit still lives.
