There's a second question we're hearing just as often, from a different reader: if you're currently cross-shopping Cybertruck against a family-hauling Tesla, does the Model Y L's US launch change anything about that decision, or about a referral code you're already holding for a Cybertruck order?

What actually differs between the two vehicles

Model Y L is a stretched, six-seat, three-row Model Y — 2+2+2 seating, roughly 180 mm longer than the standard Model Y, an estimated 325-mile range, U.S. Launch Series pricing from $61,990. It is a passenger-hauling answer for larger families. Cybertruck is the opposite kind of vehicle entirely: a truck bed, towing and cargo capability the Model Y platform was never built for. If the reason you're looking at Cybertruck is the bed — for towing, hauling, a job site, a trailer — a six-seat Model Y variant, whenever and if it reaches Canada, doesn't touch that decision at all.

Cybertruck is already one of the three models — alongside Model 3 and Model Y — that carry the full Canadian referral benefit today: the buyer's 3-month FSD (Supervised) trial, and the referrer's up to C$325 (C$650 with FSD added) in Tesla Credits. It launched in the US only, with no confirmed Canadian date as of this writing, and even once (or if) it arrives here, the referral program's model list has historically been additive — new eligible trims have not displaced existing ones. If you're genuinely undecided between the two

This is a use-case question, not a referral-value question, since the referral reward is identical either way. Ask which use case actually describes your next twelve months: if it's carrying six people and their gear on a regular basis, a Model Y L (once it's confirmed for Canada, with Canadian pricing) is built for that in a way Cybertruck, with its two rows, is not. If it's hauling something a Model Y's cargo area can't handle, the bed is the point, and no six-seat variant of Model Y changes that.
