Every 2026 Change That Touches a Tesla Referral Delivery in Canada

Four separate 2026 changes, one dated timeline — and the single checklist they add up to before your delivery date.

Why one page for “what changed” wasn’t going to cut it

2026 packed several separate changes into the Canadian referral picture, and treating them as one blob risks conflating things that don’t actually depend on each other. This page is a single, dated reference: every change we’ve confirmed this year that touches what a Canadian buyer or referrer should check between placing an order and standing at the delivery center. Nothing here replaces the deeper post on any one change — think of it as the map, with a pointer to the detail on each stop.

February 16, 2026 — the federal EVAP window opens

The Electric Vehicle Affordability Program (EVAP) — the federal rebate that replaced the closed iZEV program — became eligible for purchases from this date onward: up to $5,000 through a final-transaction-value cap of $50,000, running April 1, 2026 through March 31, 2031, funding permitting. This has nothing to do with the referral code itself, but it changes what a buyer ordering close to this date should check: an order placed even a day before February 16 simply cannot qualify for EVAP, no matter the trim.

March 2026 — three separate moves inside one referral overhaul

Three distinct changes landed under the same overhaul, and they are worth separating rather than treating as one event. First, Model S and Model X were removed from the Canadian referral program entirely — no buyer benefit on either car since. Second, referral and loyalty Tesla Credits gained a new expiry: they now lapse 12 months after their own Grant Date, a clock that did not exist before this overhaul. Third, and unrelated to the referral itself, the separate loyalty discount for repeat owners buying a new premium vehicle was cut from $1,000 to $500 — easy to conflate with referral figures, so we’re flagging it here explicitly as its own line item.

July 2, 2026 — Model Y L launches, but not here yet

Tesla’s six-seat Model Y L launched in the US and Puerto Rico at a Launch Series price of US$61,990. Nothing we’ve seen confirms a Canadian release date or Canadian pricing, so it currently affects zero Canadian deliveries. If and when it does arrive here, the referrer reward math doesn’t change with it — the reward is flat regardless of the referred vehicle’s price, the same as it is across Model 3, Model Y and Cybertruck today.

What didn’t change — worth stating plainly

• The buyer benefit itself: still a 3-month free trial of FSD (Supervised), on Model 3, Model Y and Cybertruck only.
• British Columbia’s no-referrer-reward rule and Québec’s missing C$20 FSD demo-drive credit: both structural, unchanged, and not tied to any calendar date.
• The referral code or link itself: still has no expiry. That’s a different thing from the new 12-month clock on the Tesla Credits it can earn — don’t conflate the two.

A single 2026 delivery checklist, given all of the above

• Confirm your model is still on the eligible list (3 / Y / Cybertruck) — not assumed from an older page.
• Check your order date against February 16, 2026 if you’re counting on EVAP alongside the referral.
• Once a Tesla Credit posts to your account as a referrer, note its Grant Date — you now have 12 months to spend it, not indefinitely.
• If you’re in Québec, weigh your delivery estimate against Roulez vert’s December 31, 2026 cutoff separately from anything above — it runs on its own calendar.

A dated example spanning three of these changes at once

Picture an Ontario buyer who configures a Model 3 in January 2026 — before the EVAP window opens — with delivery slipping to April 2026, after the March overhaul. The buyer’s FSD (Supervised) trial is untouched either way, since Model 3 stayed eligible throughout. The referrer’s Tesla Credit posts after the April delivery, and because it’s granted after the March overhaul, it now carries the new 12-month expiry from that April Grant Date — a clock that would not have applied had the same credit posted a few months earlier. Meanwhile, because the order itself was placed before February 16, EVAP simply isn’t in play for this specific purchase, regardless of which Model 3 trim was ordered. Three changes, three separate effects, one order.
