Tesla's Supercharger network now spans more than 60,000 stalls across North America, and every Model Y has full access. That scale is the backdrop for a newer wrinkle: a paid Charging Membership, reported at $12.99 per month, that lowers the per-kWh rate paid at a Supercharger — with the reported breakeven point sitting around four or more Supercharging sessions a month.

Where your Canadian referrer credit actually fits

Tesla Credits earned as a referrer in Canada — up to C$325, or C$650 if the buyer added FSD — are spendable in-app, including on Supercharging. If the $12.99 figure held one-to-one in CAD, a single C$325 credit would cover roughly 25 months of the membership fee outright, before a single kWh is even charged at the discounted rate. That is the kind of arithmetic worth doing before assuming the credit only matters at delivery — a referrer who never buys another Tesla can still spend that credit down at the charger.

The Canada-specific caveat we want to be upfront about

The $12.99 figure comes from U.S.-facing coverage; we have not seen it confirmed as a Canadian-dollar price on tesla.com/en_ca, and Supercharger per-kWh pricing already varies by province in Canada because provincial electricity rates differ — Québec's largely hydroelectric grid prices differently than Alberta's, for instance. Treat the $12.99 and the four-session breakeven as a U.S. reference point, not a confirmed Canadian number, and check the in-app pricing for your specific Supercharger before deciding whether a membership pays for itself.

A rough Canadian worked example, clearly hedged

Say a referrer in Ontario banks C$325 in Tesla Credits from a completed Model Y referral. If Ontario's Charging Membership eventually mirrors the U.S. $12.99 figure (unconfirmed), that credit alone could cover roughly two years of membership, freeing up the referrer to spend any further Tesla Credits directly on the discounted per-kWh rate instead. If the referrer instead earned C$650 because the buyer added FSD, the same credit stretches further still. None of this changes what the buyer receives — the 3-month FSD trial is unrelated to the Charging Membership question entirely.

What to verify before assuming any of this applies to you

• The actual CAD price of the Charging Membership in your province, direct from your Tesla account or app — not a U.S.-sourced figure.
• Your local per-kWh Supercharging rate before and after the membership discount.
• Whether your existing Tesla Credits balance (from a completed referral) is actually available to apply toward Supercharging in the app, rather than assuming it automatically offsets a subscription charge.
